Custom Rifles
Have the custom rifle of your dreams built by David Christman. Usually starting with your action David will begin with the metal work. Whether you choose something simple or go all out, with custom bottom metal, skeleton grip cap and butt plate, checkered bolt handle, quarter rib and hooded front sight, it will be a one of a kind rifle built especially for you. Everything will be expertly fitted and polished for the high quality finish of your choice. These include matte blue, high polish blue and slow rust blue. Next your wood will be shaped in a classic style and inlet with care and attention to detail. A high quality hand rubbed oil finish is applied that is both beautiful and durable. This finish can be left in high gloss or cut back to a low luster satin. Either way it will be a rifle built with accuracy quality and attention to detail. You will also have your choice of caliber along with many other options. It will be carried with pride and become a family heirloom to be hunted with for generations. |

Delta Special
Do you like black rifles? For some people blued steel and English walnut are fine and good, just not what they want. For this reason David came up with the Delta special. Take the customers action, true it, glass bed it in a Hi-Tec stock and add a Shilen barrel in your choice of caliber and contour. Do this with the same skill and dedication to accuracy and reliability as you put in one of the “pretty” rifles, now you have a rifle built for the hunt. Whether the hunt takes you out your back door or onto the Dark Continent the Delta Special will perform.

Biograpy of the "Gunmaker"
David was born and raised in the Northeast corner of Louisiana. He graduated from DelhiHigh School and enlisted in the Air Force shortly after graduation. He spent several years at Fairchild AFB in Spokane, Washington, where he was discharged in 1970. Bell South Telephone in Monroe, LA, hired him in June 1971. During the fall of that year he set up his first gunroom and began “tinkering” with guns in his spare time. What started out as a hobby quickly developed into a small gunsmithing business and two years later he built his first gun shop in Tallulah, LA. February 1978 David accepted a transfer to Northwest Bell Telephone in Spokane, Washington, and then made another transfer north to Colville. Over the next 19 years he worked his way up through the ranks of the Bell/Quest Telephone Company to become a design engineer, and continued to work on guns part-time in a gun shop with another gunsmith. In 1995, the telephone company began downsizing and David decided it was time to get serious with his unmaking business. Two winters with over five feet of snow at times, David, in 1997, made the decision to move one more time. With dreams of a full-time custom rifle shop, prospects of a great location one-half mile from busy Interstate 20, and far away from any “snow belt,” David and his family packed up lock, stock, and gun barrels and headed south. Those 19 years in WashingtonState were well spent, honing his skills in the gun making trade, meeting other well-known gun makers, and continuing to improve and expand his gun making abilities. David Christman-Gunmaker Inc., opened for business in the summer of 1997. Much has changed from the little “gunroom” of 1971, with its single vise and workbench. His custom rifle gun shop is 2100 sq ft of wall-to-wall equipment. David’s custom work is mostly rifles, with an occasional shotgun. He prefers good 98 Mausers and Winchester Model 70 actions for his project rifles. While he would rather use a piece of English walnut for stock wood, David does work with Claro and Turkish. He also installs Hi Tech Synthetic stocks with a preference for Remington actions. One of his top-selling packages is the “Delta Special,” which is listed in his price list. All metal and stock work is personally completed by David in his shop, with engraving being one of the few jobs which is contracted out. Thirty-five plus years, constantly working at a trade he truly enjoys, has made David Christman an exceptional gun maker and one to definitely consider when looking for a truly fine-quality custom rifle.
